Police Identify Three Young Men Killed in Baltimore County Car Accident

Earlier this week, police identified the three passengers who were killed in a fatal car accident that occurred last Sunday morning. According to a report by the Baltimore Sun, the accident occurred on the southbound ramp from Interstate 83 to Interstate 695 in Baltimore County. Evidently, although the accident occurred on a Sunday morning, the wreckage from the car accident was not discovered until Tuesday, since the car was obscured by the trees and brush on the side of the highway.

Little is known about the accident, except that it occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Several days after the accident, police identified the three young men involved: a 23-year-old, a 24-year-old, and a 25-year-old. All were students on their way back home from Fairfax, Virginia.

Police are not sure how the accident occurred. However, they do believe that speed may have been a factor, given that the car was some 300 feet off the side of the road in the nearby woods. The accident and the subsequent investigation shut down the I-83 ramp for hours as police tried to figure out exactly what happened.

Late Night Driving Poses Additional Risks to Drivers

The accident above occurred shortly after 1a.m., when roads are dark, stamina is low, and the temptation to speed is high with few other cars on the road. These factors all combine to make night driving an especially dangerous situation. Drivers should all take extra caution when traveling at night.

Single-Car Accidents in Maryland

Often, Maryland personal injury suits are based on accidents that involved multiple vehicles. However, single-vehicle accidents also make up a large number of the personal injury lawsuits filed in Maryland.

In a single-vehicle accident, the passenger of a car (or their estate, if the passenger dies in the accident) may wish to look to the driver of the accident for responsibility, especially when the driver was operating the car in a negligent or reckless manner.

Other potential lawsuits arising out of a single-vehicle accident are cases filed by either the driver of the vehicle or a passenger against the car manufacturer, tire manufacturer, or another third party who may be responsible for the condition that caused the accident. Sometimes a construction crew leaves behind an unmarked road hazard, or there is insufficient signage to indicate a dangerous intersection or corner.

Have You Been Injured in a Maryland Car Accident?

If you or a loved one has recently been involved in a Maryland car accident, you should seek the advice and counsel of an experienced Maryland personal injury attorney as soon as possible. Even in cases where only one car is involved in the accident, there still may be a responsible party other than the driver of the vehicle. Part of a good lawyer’s job is to know where to look for potential liability in order to get you the recovery that you deserve.
